ECCO – European Community Certificate of Origin

An Arab-British Certificate of Origin is a Customs clearance requirement in some countries to evidence the origin of the goods. It may also be requested by the importing company

How to complete an ECCO

These instructions are a generalisation of the Rules.

BOX 1: Consignor: Full name and address of your company. This must always be a UK company address.

BOX 2: Consignee: Name and address of the company you are exporting to. This must be the delivery address on the invoice.

BOX 3: Country of Origin: Not to be abbreviated, always use the full name of the country. For goods not manufactured by the exporter evidence must be produced such as a manufacturers invoice.

BOX 4: Method of Transport: i.e. airfreight, sea freight, road , rail etc. Please note, it is not advisable to quote dates or name of vessel due to possible changes. Can be left blank.

BOX 5: Leave blank. Box used for replacement.

BOX 6: Marks and Numbers: Fully addressed or no marks is acceptable. Numbers and kind of packages – e.g. 1 carton, 2 boxes, 3 pallets etc, whichever is applicable.

Description of goods – include an adequate commercial description of goods. If space does not permit, use a general description e.g. ‘electrical components’ followed by based on invoice No…….Dated…….

Boycott declarations and negative statements not accepted.

Please ensure that any special description of the goods shown on a letter of credit is also shown on the certificate. This box must be ruled off immediately after the last entry. This is done automatically when using EZ Cert.

BOX 7: Quantity: Enter gross weight in kgs.

BOX 8: Signature: Sign, date and place of signing on the pink sheet only – bottom right hand corner. Electronic signature uploaded when using EZ Cert.

BOX 9: Applicants name if not the Consignor e.g. freight forwarder, should be stated.
