City of Wolverhampton College is keen to hear from local people interested in becoming a member of its Board of Governors. There are currently 2 vacancies.

As a Governor you will play an important role in helping to ensure, at this crucial time, that the College continues to fulfill its mission “To equip people in Wolverhampton and beyond with the skills to succeed and excel”.

The College attracts over 7,000 students each year. With an annual turnover of approximately £26M it is one of the largest employers in the area and plays an important part in the local economy.

The role of College Governor is a voluntary position and involves a commitment of approximately 10 Board meetings a year.  Meetings are held in the evening with occasional daytime attendance at college events.

No formal qualifications are required, just an enthusiasm to work collectively with other Board members to ensure that the College continues to meet the needs of the community it serves.   Induction and training will be provided to all new members.

If you are interested in this challenging and rewarding role and wish to find out more, please contact Elizabeth Ball, Clerk to the Board on 01902 317612 or email:

The College is deeply committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

In order to bolster the skills set of our existing governors we are looking in particular at the following:-

  • General business experience, either in a large company or SME
  • Legal background
  • Marketing background
  • Finance, in particular public sector and Further Education accounting

We are keen that the Board reflects the diversity of the local community and that of our student body.
