International Trade Adviser

Working to deliver the programme for the Department for International Trade (DIT), the government organisation that supports British companies to develop business overseas, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and pro-active individual to join the Chamber’s international team and deliver support to businesses in international trade.

Reporting to the Head of International Trade and working as part of a successful team of International Trade Advisers, the main focus of the role will be providing high quality advice and support to businesses in Shropshire, of all sizes and across all business sectors, to increase their international competitiveness. You will identify both new and experienced exporters of goods and services, to develop their international business strategies and tailor services and other support to deliver growth and to meet DIT targets.

The candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of both the export process and the wider remit of international trade and be confident in the provision of advice to business owners and managers
  • sound awareness of issues affecting the UK economy and global business
  • a track record in account management including building and maintaining customer relationships to achieve targets
  • a commercially focused attitude with previous experience of compiling international trade strategies and export action plans
  • excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills

Salary: £24,500 to £28,500 per annum depending on experience
