Join us for our ever popular virtual Network of Women event hosted by Heather Noble of Salt Solutions.

Normally this group would meet quarterly at unique locations throughout the county for women involved in any form of business to share thoughts and ideas on all aspects of business life, instead we invite you to join us online.

Speaker Topic – Female Leadership
Lt Cdr Suzanne will talk about her career and role in the Navy followed by a short presentation from Siamha Butt, Head of Engagement at the West Midland Reserve Forces & Cadets Association who will talk about the Armed Forces Covenant and working with Defence 

Lieutenant Commander Suzanne Lynch RD Royal Naval Reserves

Born in Cardiff, Suzanne joined the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS) in 1989 as a Stores Accountant, advancing to the rate of Petty Officer before being commissioned as a Logistics Office in the Royal Naval Reserves.   
Graduating from Cardiff University she became a primary school teacher specialising in Early Years and children with behavioural needs, and has a MA in Education. 
Suzanne balanced both her civilian and Royal Naval Reserves careers simultaneously and undertook Full Time Reserve Service (FTRS) opportunities to broaden her Naval experience.  
Serving in over 40 countries, she served on the aircraft carrier HMS ILLUSTRIOUS during the ship’s global deployment, OCEAN WAVE (1997 -98), which included visits to the Far East and Australia; she served as the Staff Officer for 845 Naval Air Squadron (2001 – 04) and operated in Norway, Bosnia, USA and Iraq; and in 2010 she deployed to Weymouth for the London Olympics,  where she delivered the VIP Protocol programme for the Naval Regional Commander.  Her last mobilisation saw her serve for 2 years on the European Union Naval Force counter piracy task force (2014 – 16), operating in Djibouti on the Horn of Africa, she provided all J1/4 (Personnel and Logistics) support for the task force and was awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service for her service. 
Suzanne commenced her role as SO2 Specialist Engagement Team for Wales and Western England in October 2016.  Passionate about her role, she is able to combine her Royal Navy service and 15 years of teaching experience with her love of working with young people and members of our diverse communities.  She is planning to start a MA in Islam and Contemporary Britain Studies at Cardiff University in Autumn 2021.
Suzanne lives in Cardiff and enjoys travelling and reading, she also spends time on her canal boat on the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal.

Siamha Butt – Head of Engagement

Siamha is Head of Engagement at the West Midlands Reserve Forces & Cadets Association since 2017, and oversees Employer Engagement, Community Engagement and PR/Comms.  Prior to that Siamha was the Regional Employer Engagement Director of the West Midlands since 2015.
Siamha was Head of Engagement & Business Development at Birmingham Metropolitan College from 2012 to 2015 where Siamha led the Apprenticeship, Sales and Contact Centre teams.
Siamha was the Engagement Coordinator for Work directions & PPDG and from 2008 to 2012, and managed the Employer and Community Engagement function and worked with referred clients to place them into work and training.
Siamha worked at Northern Rock PlC from 1995 to 2008 where she was the Branch Manager of Leicester Branch and Wolverhampton Mortgage Centre.
