With the support of a European Regional Development funded programme a new event is being hosted at the Shropshire Education and Conference Centre, Shrewsbury Hospital with a specific focus on supporting Health Tech companies in the region. The University of Chester has been working with the West Midlands Health Technologies Cluster (WMHTC) and the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN) to share resources and promote opportunities to the sector. The work has been undertaken as part of the Digital Solutions Project based at University Centre Shrewsbury.

The event, which will take place on Tuesday 25th April, offers an opportunity for digital health innovators and practitioners from across the Midlands to come together to share their wealth of expertise. There will be talks from key stakeholders about their visions for digital health innovation in the future and information from support agencies providing advice and guidance for businesses across the region.

The full day event is being chaired by David Kidney, Executive Chair for WMHTC and will include talks from Government Office for Technology Transfer, Innovate UK Edge, Digital Social Care, ORCHA and NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. The afternoon will incorporate three workshops led by expert panels who will facilitate discussion, connections and knowledge sharing. The themes of the workshops are: The Innovation Journey, Care Pathways and Remote Monitoring.

Sarah Philpott, Business Development Manger for the Digital Solutions project, said “We want this event to facilitate connections and open up opportunities for those businesses with digital health innovations but also to showcase the wealth of expertise working in this sector in the West Midlands. We will have a number of local companies at the event demonstrating their technologies so that attendees can actually experience them first hand and gain a real understanding of the benefits these technologies can offer”. The event will take place on Tuesday 25th April and is fully funded.
