McPhillips pedals hard to help local charity

McPhillips have always been committed to the local community. Whenever possible, the Telford based civil engineering and building contractor lend their support to local charities, one such charity is the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.

During September, a dedicated team of McPhillips’s two-wheel enthusiasts raised money for the Fund by taking part in Lingen Davies’ annual fundraiser ‘Pedal the Borders’, a cycling event that takes teams of 4 riders through the stunning scenery of the Shropshire and Mid Wales border.

Participants were given three routes to choose from; 25km, 60km and 100km. McPhillips were the main sponsor of the 60 km ride and in addition entered a team into the 100km ride. Over 150 entrants helped to raise a total in excess of £30,000.

Ian Roberts, Commercial Director at McPhillips commented: “Due to an injury I was unable to take part, but well done to our team Fiona Corley, Lewis Northcott and former colleague Nicholas McPhillips for their fantastic efforts in aid of a very worthy cause.”

Lizzy Ellis is Fundraising Events Lead at Lingen Davies: “We would like to give special thanks to our sponsors. Their support is invaluable and without their backing we wouldn’t be able to host such a successful event. We’re delighted to have raised over £100,000 for cancer services in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and, Mid Wales since the event began in 2021 and are looking forward to Pedal the Border 2024.”
