Bring on the next 25 years!

Leading independent insurance broker Henshalls is marking a quarter of a century as a member of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and is looking forward to continuing this successful partnership for another 25 years . . . and beyond!

Henshalls, which has offices in Newport and Shrewsbury, was founded in 1967 and over the last 50 years has consistently displayed a strong commitment to supporting other local businesses and the wider community in general.

Engaging with the community

As well as developing an impressive reputation within the insurance industry for high quality customer service, Henshalls also prides itself on its work with charities, school governing bodies, the Round Table, local sports clubs and, of course, the Chamber of Commerce.

Henshalls joined the Chamber on January 22nd 1997. Today the firm has 47 members of staff and serves a range of clients across a wide variety of industries and sectors both locally and nationally.

Dave Williams, a director with Henshalls, has been with the firm for more than 20 years so is ideally placed to give his views on the firm’s ties with the Chamber.

He said: “We are delighted as a company to be marking 25 years as a Chamber member. I have been networking through the Chamber for 20 of those 25 years and I also spent 10 years on the board. 

“The networking opportunities and the ability to support the local business community were very important to us when we first joined and that still remains the case in 2022. There are also a range of services and other opportunities which are available through the Chamber which can be of great benefit to a business.

“We have been able to expand our client-base across Shropshire through the various network groups and events arranged by the Chamber and have developed many long-standing advocate type relationships from our continued commitment to support those groups and the Chamber as an organisation.

“Our staff have also attended Chamber courses over the years, which have been excellent and of great benefit.”

Looking ahead

“There have been many changes within our industry and we are generally facing the same challenges at present as our client-base - including rising costs and recruitment, but it’s important to remain optimistic and the Shropshire business community is very resilient.

“I think it is also important for anyone considering starting a business or developing their business to explore all the benefits and embrace and commit long-term to networking to build trust and community.

“We enjoy our long-standing relationship with the Chamber and hope it continues for another 25 years! The Chamber has been a great support for our business.”
