My Sports and More Ltd is a relatively new member of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce but with three strands to their business - sustainable medal and trophy production;high street printing and embroidery and corporate and sports clothing - the company has already benefited from contacts made at networking events and by attending some of our training sessions.

Zero Waste Medals, based in Dawley, Telford, is the world’s only producer of such sustainable zero waste medals and trophies for sporting and corporate events.

My Sports and More Ltd boasts Zero Waste Medals which produces almost a million medals a year and also has a full print business at the Local Print Stop in Dawley High Street, producing items including sportswear, workwear and signage and also own Local Print Pros on Hadley Industrial Estate where corporate clothing and large orders are produced for many sporting teams across the borough.

Building relationships

We asked company director Andrew Fennell to tell us more about the excellent relationships My Sports and More Ltd - in particular Zero Waste Medals - has made with Shropshire Chamber and other Shropshire Chamber members.

He said: “We joined Shropshire Chamber of Commerce during the summer of 2022 - a decision that has proved extremely beneficial for us. It has led to us making new contacts through networking and other introductions and helped us to raise our profile by meeting other Shropshire business professionals.

“There are also other positives to being a Shropshire Chamber member such as the training and other services they provide, which may be extremely useful to us as we develop our relationship.

“We attend local networking meetings and have already sent staff on training sessions where appropriate. Recently one of our admin completed a series of Excel courses and another did a fire marshall course. These are really useful to us.

Hitting the road

“Having been a member and attending networking meetings for over 12 months, I was aware of many services provided, not only by Shropshire Chamber but also by other members, that I may require as time goes by. So when I decided to buy an electric car my first choice was to visit Furrows Ford in Telford, a Shropshire Chamber member, and subsequently bought a new Electric Ford Mustang.

“The service was superb and a home wall charger was part of the deal but unfortunately Furrows faced a delay from their supplier.

I was aware from a recent networking meeting of Shropshire Chamber member EVC Solutions and made an introduction for them to Furrows.

“This resulted in a wall charger being fitted by them at my home within a week, complete with great customer service. I hope they further the Furrows relationship and pick up some good business with them too.”

Mutual benefit

Mr Fennell said another event led to an introduction to the team at Lingen Davies - which benefited both parties.

He said: “Last month at a networking meeting, Helen from Lingen Davies was in attendance. I did not get to speak with her but was introduced via email by Shropshire Chamber host Otis.

“My mother and father have both used the services of Lingen Davies in the last 12 months and it was lovely to chat with Lizzy Coleman, their fundraising events lead. Applying a hefty charity discount for them, we secured an order for 400 wooden medals which we will produce for their colour run fundraising event in October. We have another meeting with her in a few weeks to see how else we can help.

Important connections

“I am also in the process of arranging a meeting with Severn Hospice to see how we can help them. All these connections have been made as a direct result of joining the Shropshire Chamber.

“A few months ago we employed a marketing apprentice supplied by Shropshire Chamber member SBC Training, we now supply Shropshire Chamber member Windows and Doors 2 You with workwear and signage, and we use the services of Shropshire Chamber member Tom from Pathfinder FX for all our currency needs.

“It has been a hugely productive first year for us as a Shropshire Chamber member and we look forward to developing more contacts in the future - with the hope that these relationships will prove to be mutually beneficial to other Shropshire Chamber members.”
