Seymour Manufacturing International Limited (SMI) has been saving energy and money for some of the world’s biggest and best-known businesses since the 1980s.

It is the inventor of Tempro – an award-winning lightweight thermal insulation material which has been scientifically proven to cut energy use for customers by between 25% and 60%.

Impressive client base

Its blue-chip client list includes big name food brands such as Waitrose, Morrisons, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer, Co-op and Lidl. SMI also works with the NHS and the Ministry of Defence, and has become a leading thermal insulation supplier for the protection of food, chemicals, agricultural and home delivery products.

Chamber member since February 1996

With its headquarters and manufacturing base on the Stafford Park industrial estate in Telford, SMI is also proud to have been a member of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce for more than 25 years.

Finance and HR manager Jayne Meakin said: “We’ve taken advantage of our Chamber membership in many different ways over the years. For example, since many of our products are exported, the documentation service was very useful to us as we adapted to some of the changes needed during the Brexit transition process.

“We have also accessed the Chamber’s training programme for areas such as first aid, and attended many networking events.

“It’s always great to be able to reach out to other Shropshire-based companies, through the Chamber, when it comes to sourcing potential partners and suppliers, as we are proud to be part of the Shropshire business community.

“And whenever we have needed to reach out to the Chamber to source information which would help the business, the team has been very helpful.”

Great credentials

SMI is also a former finalist in the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards, having been recognised for ‘technology, enterprise and innovation’. Judges said they had been chosen for their ability to ‘break the mould and think outside the box, turning revolutionary ideas into successful businesses’.

The company has just opened the first stage of a new two-storey manufacturing area at its Telford headquarters. The expansion is the result of a 10-fold increase of in-house manufacturing capabilities at the fast-growing company.
