Online ADR and Driver CPC Training

We are pleased to have been authorised by the SQA to deliver ADR training remotely during the latest 2021 national lockdown.

ADR training also known as Dangerous Goods Vehicle training is a SQA VTC qualification required by anyone driving a vehicle with dangerous or hazardous goods onboard. This could be a van, lorry, trailer or fuel tanker carrying various hazardous loads. From petroleum, gasses, toxic waste, fertiliser, explosives and many more.

The ADR VTC qualification will need to be renewed every 5 years and training towards the ADR qualification can be used as Driver CPC hours which is also a on a 5 year cycle.

To gain your ADR you will need to complete the initial course and then every 5 year cycle a refresher course will be required. The initial course will require you to train and pass exams for Core, Packs and at least 1 Class from a choice of 7 Classes. For example to carry fertiliser you will need Class 5 only. If you will be driving a fuel tanker then you will need to add training and an exam for Tanks. The most popular option is to complete the initial qualification and all 7 Classes and then choose if you want to add Tanks.

The Initial course with 7 Classes is 4 days without tanks and this would allow us to upload 21 hours Driver CPC to JAUPT. Or 5 days if you add tanks and this would qualify for 28 hours Driver CPC. The refresher courses or Initial with only 1 Class are reduced to 3 or 4 days qualifying for less Driver CPC hours.

Many drivers retake the initial course every 5 years instead of the reduced refresher because of the added advantage of gaining the additional Driver CPC hours while updating their subject knowledge and better preparing for the exams. If you complete the Initial ADR course every 5 years with 28 hours Driver CPC you will only need to attend 1 more 7 hour day of periodic Driver CPC training to complete your 5 year Driver CPC cycle.

We are currently able to deliver our ADR courses remotely using Zoom. All you need is a quiet room/office and a laptop or tablet. You must have internet connection, camera, microphone and speakers so that you can interact with the trainer and other trainees during the week. The remote training will be 7 hours per day and still qualify for Driver CPC hours. We will upload these to JAUPT for you. On the final day of your course you will sit your exams, this will not be remote. The exams will be completed in one of our Shropshire Covid secure and risk assessed training classrooms. We have been authorised by the SQA to deliver our ADR training remotely qualifying for Driver CPC and offer exams at our exam centre during the current 2021 lockdown.

Our Shropshire exam centres have had extensive Coronavirus risk assessments, which are available on request to make sure they are as safe as possible. Some of the measures taken include but are not limited to reducing the number of attendees from 20 to a maximum of 8 to ensure social distancing, hand wash stations throughout, anti bacterial wipes, hand sanitiser, health declarations and temperature checks on arrival. We no longer provide lunch or refreshments and encourage anyone on site to bring their own pen, paper and refreshments. Face masks will be worn at all timed on site.

The exams are electronic, we will provide sanitised laptops, one per person. This allows the exams to be marked instantly and results presented on the day.

Our 4 training centres are located at:

Rodenhurst, Shropshire
Battlefield, Shrewsbury
Hortonwood, Telford
Rhosrobin, Wrexham
We are able to deliver the training remotely using Zoom to anywhere in the world. Exams must be taken at one our Covid safe exam centres. If you have a suitable exam room we may be able to apply to have this checked and exams delivered at your site anywhere in the UK if it meets our risk assessment and can be approved by the SQA.

It is a difficult time for the UK and European logistics industry, from Warehouse to Road the supply chain must keep moving the goods safely that we all consume daily. From Driver CPC, ADR and Forklift training organisations and individuals must comply with the law and HSE standards of practice. Dulson Training are proud to support the logistics industry in so many ways, from providing new drivers with driving licences to refreshing skills for drivers looking at returning to the industry. We do it all in a safe and professional manner, getting results and continuing our excellent reputation for outstanding customer service.

Our fully operational accredited Shropshire Forklift training centre is fully operational during national lockdown including any off site nationwide accredited RTITB MHE Forklift Training requirements for Counterbalance, Reach, Pallet Truck, Lorry Mounted Crane etc. Our online remote First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Safety and Driver CPC courses have been running since March 2020 and continue to offer drivers flexible and relevant content. It is fair to say we are now an experienced team at delivering online training. Certain courses still require a practical element as part of the accreditation process.

Our licence acquisition training in Shrewsbury, Telford and Wrexham is unfortunately non-operational during this lockdown except for critical workers. We are delivering HGV lorry test training and tests for critical workers including the police, fire service and Cat C1 ambulance drivers/paramedics. We are hoping for a return to normal DVSA driver training and tests in March. We are taking provisional bookings for practical training, all courses adhere to our Covid-19 cancellation policy. If any training or testing is affected by Covid, this may be you, us or an examiner the course will be rescheduled with no fees lost.
