• Charity Champion kindly sponsored by Lavender Blue Services

10 years and still blooming for Lavender Blue!

As Kaye Gunner and her family celebrate their 10th anniversary this year, I learnt what a lovely story there is behind the business and how it truly is family run. Back in 2009 Kaye started Lavender Blue which involved a cleaning and gardening service for the domestic audience, soon growing to the commercial side. With high standards and top work ethics it’s no surprise that as the years have gone on the business has grown so much its now branched off into several businesses, each headed up by Kaye’s children.

Son Elliot has started up Lavender Landscape creating and transforming some amazing gardens of all sizes and designs, Son Sam has started up L.B.S garden maintenance offering all your garden needs from fencing, garden clear outs, planting to patio jet washing and Sam’s partner Vicky is Supervisor with Kaye for Lavender Blue Cleaning services.

Talking with Kaye you can see the passion within her and how she loves seeing her family taking over and developing each side of the business, and to celebrate their 10th anniversary daughter Frankie has launched Lavender Hampers & Gifts.

Getting to ten years in business isn’t easy these days, but with the amount of care and attention to detail Kaye and her
family have put into Lavender Blue they certainly deserve to be celebrating theirs, along with the growth of Lavender
Hampers & Gifts.

“I am looking to grow and develop Lavender Blue Services in Shropshire, and through the Chamber of Commerce I am looking forward to networking with other local businesses to achieve this.

“I have been supporting the NHS throughout the lockdown for example i have donated facemasks and scrub hats to the local NHS so i felt sponsoring the Charity Champion Awards is an initiative that i would be proud to support.”

At the Business Company we are acutely aware of our responsibility to the wider community and for us, as with many in society, this has been magnified by the current pandemic.

As a small part of this, we wanted to recognise those going above and beyond in our community by sponsoring The Chamber Champion Award for Good Neighbour where individuals can nominate a business or individual going out of their way to help – they may run errands, do shopping, tidy homes and gardens, help to care for pets or simply pop round for a chat etc..

As they say “if you can be one thing, be kind!”

• Service to the Community kindly sponsored by Paycare

At Paycare, we jumped at the chance to sponsor an award which celebrates Service to the Community. Not only because we believe honouring those who go above and beyond is essential – but also because it aligns so perfectly with our values and ethos as a not-for-profit organisation.

Formed in 1874, Paycare offers a range of Health Cash Plans to individuals and businesses across the UK – this means our Policyholders can claim back money on a range of everyday healthcare costs including Optical, Dental and Physiotherapy, as well as gain access to a range of perks such as 24-hour GP appointments through our dedicated MyPocketGP app and confidential Telephone Support Helpline. We’re also proud to provide access to a range of accredited Mental Health Training and support with our Paycare Wellbeing team.

At Paycare, we’re about much more than providing holistic health and wellbeing services to our Policyholders. We are truly invested in our Communities, with a track record of donating more than £2.2million and countless volunteer hours to a range of charities and good causes, whether they’re community sports teams, charities helping victims of domestic abuse, homelessness outreach projects, or hospices.

Giving back to the Community is simply a way of life for our Team – Paycare wouldn’t be the same without our commitment to our People, our community and our customers.

We’re so passionate about shining a light on individuals who are helping the Communities most in need in Shropshire – the people who often go unnoticed while they are quietly but resolutely making a world of difference to the individuals and organisations they support. Without these people, the county (and the world!) simply wouldn’t be the same.

• Valiant Volunteer kindly sponsored by Nick Jones Wealth Planning

Nick Jones Wealth Planning are incredibly proud to sponsor the ‘Valiant Volunteer’ Award at this year’s ‘virtual’ Shropshire Chamber Business Awards.  With so many companies and individuals stepping forward to volunteer and get involved within their local community during this time of global pandemic, we felt that it was important to recognise and acknowledge their achievements and hopefully inspire others to get involved and help out as the world settles into the ‘new normal’.

“Volunteering within the community really does bring many benefits to everyone who takes part – it helps to focus the mind and encourages positivity during these unprecedented times.  Giving something back, however little, goes a long way. Helping with some shopping, providing essential PPE, delivering food or even just taking the time to smile and talk” said Nick Jones, Principal of Nick Jones Wealth Planning.

Nick Jones Wealth Planning provide clients (both individuals and businesses) with a bespoke, holistic approach that provides solutions and helps them to achieve their financial goals and objectives.  Ongoing advice ensures that these plans are still suitable as circumstances change. However, for the majority of clients, they manage all aspects of their wealth as often specific areas overlap when looking at ‘the bigger picture’.

Specialities within the Practice are Investment planning, Retirement planning, Inheritance Tax planning, protection and Mortgages, as well as offering an Entrepreneur Club to business owners, wherever they are on their business journey.

Based on Shrewsbury Business Park, Nick Jones Wealth Planning have clients throughout Shropshire and beyond.

Nick said “Our emphasis is maintaining long-term relationships and providing a source of trusted advice as financial needs evolve over the years is an integral part of our business”

• Champion of Champions 2020 kindly sponsored by Zoom 1 hour

Zoom 1hr Delivery is a on demand delivery service operating in Shropshire and, Mid & North Wales.

Launched in Shrewsbury in 2015, Zoom has evolved from a menu listing service, to an online ordering and delivery service, in 12 locations with plans to launch into another 40 by July 2021 with a wide variety of products for delivery.

Founded and owned by local businessman, Kevin Williams, Zoom is now supporting a number of businesses who have been affected by Covid 19, by offering instant access to our marketplace and delivery service, enabling businesses to trade straight away.

Customers can order a variety of food for delivery to themselves or a loved one, including breakfast lunch and dinner.

During Covid, we have launched 5 convenience stores across our busier areas enabling customers to order general groceries for delivery within an hour, this has been a real lifeline for customers who have little support in the area.

We were the first online ordering and delivery company to launch a contactless delivery service in the region, we’ve seen a huge increase in orders from customers new and old and we are absolutely thrilled to have served people in our local communities during these awful times.

We have sponsored the Champion of Champions award as we feel it has strong synergy with our brand. It’s a great honour to be able to play our part in these testing times, and we congratulate all the nominees for their achievements.
