Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust (IGMT) is excited to announce a brand new fundraising event this September; 'Afternoon Tea Through Time'.

The event aims to raise funds for it's new 'Calm Christmas Grotto' at Blists Hill Victorian Town – which will offer a welcoming and inclusive environment for visitors with sensory sensitivities can enjoy the festive season in a way that is comfortable and accessible.

Guests at the event will not only indulge in delicious food and drink, but will step back in time during the afternoon as they see original costumes dating to the 1840s and 1850s, showcasing what would have been worn to afternoon tea when it was first introduced to British society. In addition to these authentic garments, replica costumes handmade by the talented Costume Project team, will also be on display and available to try on, providing a perfect photo opportunity.

Kyla Hislop, the Museum's Interpretation Curator, will deliver a engaging talk on the history of tea drinking and social etiquette, and guests can further support the Museum's fundraising efforts by participating in a raffle featuring exciting prizes.

To ensure the event's success, the Museum is currently seeking event sponsors to help cover costs or donate items for the raffle.
