Shrewsbury College is proud to celebrate its outstanding success of their recent cohort of T Level students. Over the past two years, students in subjects such as construction, engineering, health, and digital have demonstrated exceptional skills, determination, and professionalism, achieving excellent results and progressing into careers in their sector (with a large number being kept on by their placement once their course had been completed), higher education, apprenticeships, and wider employment.

27% of college students studying a T Level programme with the college achieved a Distinction grade compared to a national average of 16%. The percentage of college students who achieved a Distinction or Merit grade in their T Levels was also significantly higher than the national average. 82% of their T Levels students achieved either grade compared to 65% nationally.

This success is a testament to the strength of the T Level qualification, which combines high-level development of core skills and knowledge in college, combined with real-world industry experience. Students have not only developed technical expertise but also the confidence and adaptability that employers seek.

Building on this achievement, Shrewsbury College is delighted to have welcomed an even larger group of students onto the T Level programmes this September. With growth comes opportunity—and they are now seeking to expand their network of industry partners to provide valuable industrial placements across T Levels sectors, including construction, health, engineering, and digital.

The college has already had a huge range of organisations supporting students across several sectors, who have benefitted directly from this ‘new talent pipeline’ for recruitment, which is completely free to employers. This year for example, has seen placements within the NHS expand, to include the very first placements in Maternity services at the Princess Royal Maternity unit. This is the first time that placements have been for this type of work experience.

By offering a placement, local employers play a vital role in shaping the workforce of tomorrow. Businesses benefit from fresh ideas, motivated young people, and the chance to inspire and nurture future talent within their industry.

Shrewsbury College is inviting employers across the region to work with them in providing these transformative opportunities. Together, we can continue to build strong pathways from education into employment while supporting the growth of local industries.
