iconsys proudly celebrated Make UK’s National Manufacturing Day by welcoming a group of Year 8 students and staff from Thomas Telford School to The Technology Hub.
The day was designed to:
- Inspire the next generation of innovators – by sparking curiosity and excitement about STEM
- Demystify advanced manufacturing – demonstrated creativity in the workplace, problem-solving, and cutting-edge technology
- Build stronger links with local education – reinforcing our role in the community and our commitment to nurturing future talent
- Showcase real career opportunities – highlighting the wide variety of exciting and rewarding paths available within the industry
What the Students Experienced:
- Hands-on technology: A chance to try out our UR robot and immerse themselves in a VR session – bringing automation and digital innovation to life
- Behind-the-scenes facility tour: Students explored our operations, learning more about who we are, what we do, and the vital role we play in offering complex solutions for our customers
- Careers in focus: We highlighted the wide spectrum of careers available in manufacturing – from engineering and robotics to project management and software development
By opening our doors, we aimed to break stereotypes, showcase the exciting future of UK manufacturing, and inspire the students of today to become the innovators of tomorrow.
Our collaboration with Thomas Telford School is highly valued by iconsys. The students were a real credit to Thomas Telford School – engaged, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. We are confident that with their curiosity and drive, they will go on to become highly successful in their future studies and careers.
Thanks to today’s presenters, Luke Evans, Tyler Floyd-Morgan, Phil Morgan and Cliff Sedgley, along with members of the business support team for their organisation, delivery and support. It was a great morning!
“They came back buzzing with enthusiasm, and we’re delighted they showed curiosity and asked great questions of the presenters. We really value this partnership and look forward to collaborating again in the future”.
