The Programme is here to support individuals engage with local education and training providers to obtain a fully funded vocational licence, certificate, or qualification. These will provide professional knowledge, technical skills, and work experience relevant to a particular career and occupation, e.g. car mechanics or cosmetology.
An example course list is available on request, and specialist Information, Advice and Guidance is available to guide you in the right direction, if required.
UKSPF Shropshire Skills Hub aims to contribute to economic development, retention of talent, creation of new skills, and potential career progression by retraining and upskilling local people. By addressing local skills needs we hope to create high skill, high wage job opportunities for Shropshire individuals and improve productivity rates.
What vocational qualifications, including certificates and licences, can be funded?
- Vocational refers to training and qualifications giving professional knowledge, technical skills, and work experience relevant to a particular career and occupation, e.g. car mechanics or cosmetology.
- Vocational license is a document that recognises the individual as a qualified professional in a particular trade or business.
- Mandatory training (e.g., job-search related / CV writing) and other non-vocational / non-educational support, such as confidence building, life-skills and personal effectiveness support cannot be considered as education or vocational training in this context (even though such activities may, of course, be useful and important support measures).
- All qualifications must be achieved/completed and evidenced by the end of February 2025.
- Each individual is limited to one fully funded course through this programme, costing up to a maximum of £2,000 (subject to funding availability). If the required course costs more than the maximum available, then the cost can be topped up by the individual.
