The B corp movement is all about turning business into a force for good, and it never stands still. There are always ways to improve further and to increase the positive impact a business has on its community and the planet. It’s in this spirit that B Corps have to recertify every three years, tracking their progress, goals and impact score. Transparency is key and its not easy to accumulate the 80 points needed to certify.
Verve is proud to announce that they have successfully recertified, with an improved impact score of 89.
Recertification requires a huge amount of effort, with a plethora of technical questions to answer, and evidence required, but it’s a fantastic way for them to focus on being the best business they can be. Their success displays their commitment to ethical, transparent and sustainable business.
As a digital agency, they have had to really focus on the carbon impact that websites have; a study found that the internet is responsible for more carbon emissions than the aviation industry every year.
Before recertifying, they took some huge steps to address this. All of their hosting service is now provided through renewably powered servers which are listed on the Green Web Directory - meaning they have to be transparent about their energy supply.
In addition to this, they have founded a partnership with Ecologi at their own cost, meaning that websites on their green hosting plant trees around the world. Every tree has a serial number and a project (yes, transparency is a theme). This means that websites they host are climate positive and a force for good.
The B Corp movement has grown since they first certified in 2021, and there are now a community of 2000 of them in the UK alone. However, there are only three of them in Shropshire: Verve, Flooglebinder and Different Dog
They want to create a much bigger movement in Shropshire; one of the greenest counties in the country.
