Shrewsbury College is celebrating a double triumph as apprentices Cai Curtis and Kyle Blower both achieved gold awards at the National SkillBuild competition in November.
Kyle Blower was awarded in bricklaying, while Cai Curtis secured gold for carpentry. SkillBuild, delivered by CITB, is the largest multi-trade competition in the UK for construction trainees and apprentices, with over 1,000 entrants this year from 19 regions across the UK.
Stuart Raine, Curriculum Director for Construction, said “This is a massive team effort. Cai and Kyle have received fantastic support from their teachers and employers. A vast number of practice hours are involved in preparing for these competitions and everyone has really pulled together, with fantastic results”.
The competition tested their technical abilities, time management, character and commitment, helping them build confidence, self-esteem and valuable life skills.
This year's success marks a milestone for Shrewsbury College, with it's strongest performance yet. Congratulations to Cai, Kyle, and everyone involved!
