Shrewsbury Colleges Group believes that everyone, regardless of their background, deserves the best start in work and life. The college has been recognised for its proactive approach to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), with Dan Blasczyk representing the college at the WorldSkillsUK EDI Heroes Awards 2025.

These prestigious awards honour educational institutions leading initiatives to support EDI across the sector, including higher education, further education, and technical vocational education and training. Out of 297 applicants, only 21 institutions made it through to the finals. Shrewsbury Colleges Group was shortlisted for ‘Institution of the Year’ alongside Manchester Metropolitan University and The City of Liverpool College, with all three formally recognised for their outstanding work at Westminster.

The college's commitment to EDI includes its ongoing #Proudtobe campaign, which encompasses various EDI initiatives such as the White Ribbon campaign (calling out violence against women) and International Men's Day,  encouraging men to speak openly about mental health. These efforts contributed to the college's place as a finalist.

Dan Blasczyk expressed his pride, saying, "I'm absolutely honoured to be here representing Shrewsbury Colleges Group in Westminster as a finalist. It's really nice to be in a room full of people who are creating a better society with the young people we work with every day."
