SKILLBUILD NATIONAL FINAL 2025

Each year over 1000 talented individuals compete at 16 regional construction skills competitions, aiming to be one of the eight in their respective trade final. Shrewsbury College is proud to compete in these regional competitions each year and in 2025 the college competed at the regional heat in Dudley on 17 June 2025.

Building on the success from previous years, Shrewsbury College i splease to announce that two apprentices, Charlie Morris, a Bricklayer on a Level 2 Standard Bricklaying Apprenticeship, and Charlie Greenland, a Site Carpenter on a Level 3 Advanced Site Carpentry Apprenticeship, will represent the college in Bricklaying and Site Carpentry categories at the National Final.

Charlie Morris, employed by his father at K J Morris Building Contractor, and Charlie Greenland, employed by Shingler Homes Ltd, will be hoping to follow on the footsteps of Kyle Blower and Cai Curtis, who both won gold in their categories at last year's National Final.

Kevin Morris, Charlie’s father said: "We are over the moon, so pleased he has got there. Charlie has put so much work and effort in since he was selected to compete at the regional heat, he will put in even more now he has reached the final. He has been building projects at home, perfecting skills and techniques, I’m sure with Steve’s help at college he will do well at the final."

Shrewsbury College has a unique history in construction skills SkillBuild competitions. Over the past four years, the college has secured three gold medals and two silver medals at National Finals - a remarkable achievement made possible by the continued support of outstanding employers who help deliver high quality vocational training.
