Omega - Ending Isolation, Ending Loneliness, a national charity committed to improving mental health through tackling loneliness across the UK, has recently appointed Lucy Scott as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Founded in 2007 and based in Shrewsbury, Omega has been tackling social isolation amongst those experiencing profound loneliness for the last 18 years. Omega now helps clients throughout the UK, with a focus on Shropshire and the West Midlands. It offers a range of free support programmes including telephone befriending, pen-pal befriending, face-to-face groups for carers and the bereaved and signposting to other services.

Lucy joins the team from her previous position as CEO of Welsh Judo. She will lead Omega into its next phase of growth, as the charity aims to find new ways to expand its reach to support more clients, recruit more volunteers, and deepen its overall impact.

Lucy said: “Omega has long been a beacon of hope, compassion, and real impact in the lives of those we serve. At the heart of our mission is a powerful and timely goal: to end social isolation and loneliness in adults. This challenge affects millions—often silently—and I am proud to be leading an organisation so committed to fostering connection, dignity, and community for those who need it most.”

“Currently, more than 400 calls are made every month by our brilliant volunteer befrienders to our isolated clients, and we’ve recently hit the amazing milestone of 12,500 letters exchanged between volunteer pen-pals and clients since our pen-pal programme launched. A friendly weekly phone call or hand-written letter landing on the doormat can make all the difference to the life of an isolated individual.

“We’re always on the look-out for new volunteers to join our team, and would love to hear from any individuals, or companies interested in volunteering opportunities for their employees. We are fortunate to benefit from the support of a number of locally based charitable trusts and would love the opportunity to speak to any local businesses interested in sponsoring our vital work.” Lucy can be contacted at: This email address is being protected from spambots.
