We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we’ve been shortlisted as a finalist for the Innovation category at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards 2025 in the Midlands & East region.

Being recognised by Make UK is a testament to the expertise, creativity and commitment from everyone at iconsys, as we strive to never stand still, always pushing boundaries that enable us to deliver real value for our customers.

We were supported by Department of Transport and Innovate UK to develop a containerised smart short power system in partnership with Cemex UK and WMG (Warwick University Group) under the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 4.

This project has successfully created a microgrid incorporating battery energy storage and solar power for the state-of-the-art Cemex Go Innovation vessel at Shoreham, Brighton.

The system reduces vessel emissions, improves air quality for local communities and allows the use of renewable energy sources using a multi-input, multi-output model. The microgrid powers not only the vessel while in dock but also provides energy for the site, with the ability to sell excess energy generated back to the Grid.

The benefits of this MIMO microgrid has huge potential both within the Marine & Ports sector, and beyond to other industries looking for sustainable energy management where they are in control.

It’s incredibly satisfying to see our fantastic team getting the recognition they deserve.
