The team at Shropshire Festivals are preparing for Shropshire Oktoberfest, which comes to Shrewsbury’s Quarry on October 3rd and 4th. There will be a variety of local brewers and drinks producers lining the huge marquees, live bands performing throughout, plus oompah, street food, a silent disco, carpool karaoke, and a Saturday comedy club. New this year, festivalgoers will compete for the best-dressed award each day.
On the Europa Live Music Stage, there is music Katie Brisbourne & DJ Dan Anderton, Callum & The Pookies, Hot Rox, and SkaBurst on Friday, October 3rd. Radio Rumours, Midnight Symphony, Vorsprung Durch Oompah, Supersonic – The Sound of Oasis, Dirty Rockin Scoundrels, Groove Dynamite, Lost the Plot, and Ego Friendly will play on Saturday, October 4th.
The comedy lineup has been revealed. Preston funny man, Tony Vino, will once again MC the Saturday comedy in the Lanyon Bowdler Live Lounge. Joining him on the lineup is Jonny Awsum (who shot to fame on BGT and has since headlined across the UK), James Dowdeswell (fittingly a leading comedian on the subjects of beer, wine and pubs), Keith Farnan (an Irish comedian who blends social commentary with playful wit), Shazia Mirza (award winning British stand-up comedian and writer), Alistair Barrie (known for his biting topical comedy), and Steve Gribbin (sharp-witted musical comedian mixing satire with song).
Long-standing sponsor, Monks Estate Agents, is doing something extra special for 2025. Beth Heath, Director of Fun, said, “A few years back, I convinced the brilliant team at Monks that they should sponsor our festival toilets, playing on the old joke of adding an ‘i’ to a ‘to let’ sign. They have sponsored this very crucial area of our event ever since. But the toilets at Shropshire’s biggest party should be special, so this year, when heading to the loos you can enjoy the Monks Toilet Disco, ensuring the fun never stops!”
Bewdley Brewery have announced they will be serving a special Oktoberfest Ale with a pink pump clip in honour of Shropshire Festivals. The Oktoberfest Ale is a full-bodied, hoppy golden ale with a sweeter aftertaste and an ABV of 5.0%.
Beth adds, “Don’t miss Shropshire Oktoberfest. It’ll be your best night out this year! Tickets for the Start Tech VIP Area are looking likely to sell out, so don’t delay in snapping yours up.
“Thank you to all the businesses who are supporting the event, including Europa, Start Tech, Lanyon Bowdler, Cartwrights Waste Disposal, Dulson Training, Monks, Special Cider Company, and The Portcullis Group. These brilliant businesses help Shropshire Oktoberfest be the epic event that it is. See you on October 3rd and 4th!”
Shropshire Oktoberfest is taking place in Shrewsbury’s Quarry on Friday, October 3rd from 5pm - 10pm and on Saturday, October 4th, from 12pm - 10pm.
