Community Resource is pleased to announce that we have been awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund through its Reaching Communities programme. This support will help us reach more people across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin by strengthening the guidance, training and practical help we offer to community groups, organisations and charities.
Helping more community groups, organisations and charities access the support they need
Local community groups, organisations and charities do incredible work, often powered by volunteers and only a small number of staff. We know that running a community group, organisation or charity can bring challenges, including funding pressures, developing policies, meeting reporting requirements, ensuring good governance and finding the right staff and volunteers.
With this new funding, we can offer even more hands‑on support so community groups, organisations and charities feel confident, prepared and supported as they grow and work towards long‑term sustainability.
Many of the groups we support are small volunteer‑led groups in rural areas, neighbourhood projects working with tight budgets and charities working hard to keep up with increasing demand. The funding allows us to continue supporting them and to offer even more help where it is most needed.
A trusted organisation supporting local groups
Community Resource continues to hold NAVCA’s Local Infrastructure Quality Accreditation (LIQA). We remain the only organisation in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin to have achieved this accreditation, which recognises the quality and consistency of the support we provide.
More importantly, the accreditation represents trust. For the community groups, organisations and charities we work with, it means the guidance they receive is reliable, informed and focused on making a practical difference. The National Lottery investment helps us build on this strong foundation, allowing us to extend and improve the support we offer.
What this means for local communities
Alli Richardson, Head of Service at Community Resource, said:
“We’re thrilled to receive this funding. It will help us give more time, offer more practical support and provide more encouragement to the groups who make such a difference in their local areas. Every day we see how hard community organisations work, and this support from National Lottery players helps us be right there beside them every step of the way.”
This funding will strengthen the hands‑on support we already provide. It will help us listen even more closely to what local communities need, respond effectively and flexibly, and make our services easier for community groups, organisations and charities to access. Whether someone is starting a new community idea or leading a long‑standing group, organisation or charity, our aim is to remain a helpful and trusted partner.
We are grateful to National Lottery players for making this possible and look forward to supporting even more community groups, organisations, charities and volunteers in the months ahead.
