A Shropshire-based manufacturer has reached a significant milestone in its global growth strategy after successfully securing Stage 2 of the internationally recognised ISO 13485 certification.

Serchem, based at Hortonwood in Telford, completed the complex accreditation process in just three months - a remarkable achievement given that the implementation of ISO 13485 often takes organisations several years.

The certification represents a major step forward for the company as it continues to expand its international presence and strengthen its position in regulated chemistry
markets.

ISO 13485 is the globally recognised quality management standard for organisations involved in the design and manufacture of medical devices and related products.

The certification ensures companies operate to rigorous quality, safety and regulatory requirements, providing greater assurance to healthcare providers and regulators
around the world.

For Serchem, achieving the standard opens up new opportunities in regulated international markets, including Taiwan and Thailand, while reinforcing confidence
among existing customers and global distribution partners.

Director Oliver Wadlow said the achievement marked a hugely positive moment for the business.

“This is an amazing achievement for the entire Serchem team,” he said.

“It represents a significant financial investment for the business, but more importantly an incredible commitment of time, energy and dedication from our staff, who have
gone above and beyond to make it happen.

“Achieving ISO 13485 Stage 2 is a major milestone for regulated chemistry and opens up further global opportunities for Serchem, particularly in markets such as
Taiwan and Thailand.

“What makes this even more remarkable is the timeframe. Many organisations take years to implement ISO 13485, yet our team successfully delivered it in just three months, but with absolute rigour every step of the way.

“This is a very unique milestone for a UK chemical manufacturer and global distributor, and it marks a hugely positive stage for our business, our future and our
team.

“Had we not made this significant investment it would have impacted both our global growth plans and the support we provide to our current customers. We made the decision not only for our own expansion but also to create further growth opportunities for our resellers around the world.”

Commercial Director Alison Arnold paid tribute to the collective effort behind the achievement.

“This has been a huge team effort and I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved,” she said.

“Many members of the team have invested countless hours into this project alongside their day-to-day responsibilities, demonstrating the dedication and professionalism that defines Serchem.

“The commitment shown across the business has been exceptional and this achievement reflects the hard work, collaboration and determination of our entire team. The promise we make to every one of our customers is that ‘we make sure’ and our ISO 13485 certification clearly shows that we’re all behind this pledge.”

Serchem manufactures and supplies specialist hygiene and decontamination chemistry to hospitals and healthcare providers in the UK as well as internationally.

The family-run company has built more than 40 years of expertise and continues to invest in its people, facilities and product range as it expands into new global markets.
