Shropshire-based Aaron & Partners has announced a key leadership transition within one of its core commercial sectors, appointing a new Head of Planning, Environmental, Energy and Regulatory (PEER) team.
Mark Turner, who has been with the firm since 2022, takes over the leadership baton from David Harries, who has successfully led the team for more than a decade.
Mark is a highly respected specialist in planning and highways law, with a proven track record advising a range of clients on the full remit of planning and highways matters including major infrastructure projects, residential developments, and energy schemes. His appointment to lead PEER is recognition of his expertise and positions the specialist team for further growth.
The change also reflects a strategic pivot for David Harries, who remains fully integrated within the firm and the PEER team as a Partner. David will now dedicate his full focus and extensive expertise to high-level client work, judicial review and driving forward major projects across the energy, environmental and planning sectors.
Speaking on the appointment, David Harries said: "After many years leading the department, I am pleased to hand the management reins over to someone as highly regarded as Mark. He is an outstanding lawyer and a natural leader who shares my passion for this sector.
This transition is about putting our people where they can truly excel. Stepping away from day-to-day department management will allow me to work more closely with our clients, advising on the major energy and planning projects that are transforming our region and the wider UK."
Mark Turner, the newly appointed Head of Planning, Energy, Environment and Regulation, said: “Taking the role to lead the department is a huge privilege. David has done an incredible job building this team and I am thrilled that he will remain a core part of the department as we move forward.
“My focus will be on continuing the upward trajectory we have been on for many years, and continuing to showcase our team as recognised industry leaders.”
The PEER team at Aaron & Partners is widely recognised as one of the strongest in the North West and Midlands, regularly advising landowners, developers, utility companies, and public bodies on complex, high-value instructions.
