A team from a Shropshire law firm are swapping their office wear for running gear as they step up their training programme to get fit for this summer’s Shrewsbury 5k - and it’s all for a local charity.
The staff from Lanyon Bowdler will be running at the event on July 5 and each of the four runners have set up a personal JustGiving page to help raise as much money as possible for county-based charity Little Stars.
Little Stars is close to the hearts of those working at the law firm, which announced at the end of 2025 that it would be a chosen charity for the year, and a number of fundraising activities have already been organised to support it.
Now, Dawn Humphries, Amanda Clarke, Amy Burgoyne and Sophie Morris are all working hard to be in the best possible shape to tackle the daunting 5k challenge - but it won’t end there as two more of the firm’s team, Isabella Drummond and Helen Siegieda, will be taking on the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in September.
Amy Burgoyne is taking on two races as she has also entered the metric half marathon which takes place in September.
Little Stars provides essential supplies for families facing financial difficulties and is committed to ensuring that no baby or child goes without the vital items they need to be safe, warm, and cared for at all stages of childhood.
The charity operates a range of programmes, campaigns and community partnerships, delivering real, practical support to families across Shropshire who are struggling with poverty, crisis or other hardship - helping to provide a brighter future for the next generation.
Dawn Humphries, a partner at Lanyon Bowdler and head of the personal injury team, said: “The whole team at Lanyon Bowdler is committed to our charity fundraising efforts each year and really enjoy getting involved to ensure those efforts are successful.
“It allows us to spend time together away from our normal formal working surroundings while providing the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for charity.
“We jumped at the chance to run for Little Stars at this year’s Shrewsbury 5k and are really looking forward to the experience. We are working hard and it will give each of us an added incentive on the day to know we are helping Little Stars.
“I should also mention that Isabella Drummond and Helen Siegieda are going the extra mile in September by taking on the half marathon. If anyone would like to support us by donating to an amazing cause, we would be extremely grateful.”
