Farmers had the chance to learn about the latest developments in agriculture and the opportunity to see new farm machinery in action at a free national event hosted by Bradford Estates.

Around 1500 farmers and exhibitors attended the annual Arable Event, organised by leading supplier of agricultural products and services Wynnstay and held at Woodlands Farm in Weston-under-Lizard.

Attracting visitors from across the UK, the Arable Event is billed by organisers as “the premier venue for sharing knowledge and expertise, viewing extensive trial plantings and gaining hands-on experience with the latest farm machinery”.

The highlights for the 2026 show included the chance to view trial plots showcasing winter and spring cereals alongside cover crops, as well as the opportunity to join specialist-led tours.

The Arable Event, held on Wednesday June 17, offered live demonstrations of innovative farm machinery, talks by expert agricultural speakers and trade stands featuring leading suppliers.

The speakers included BBC Countryfile presenter and writer Adam Henson along with Richard Corbett, managing director of Shropshire and Mid Wales property specialists Roger Parry.

Ahead of this year’s harvest, visitors could make use of a free moisture meter clinic, offered to ensure the portable devices are working properly before being used in the fields.

The annual event is hosted by Bradford Farming, the in-hand farming arm of the landed estates business, which has a principal asset of 12,000 acres on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border.

Working to its 100-year land management plan, Bradford Estates is delivering on a vision of creating an agile and market leading agribusiness with a focus on sustainable farming systems.

Farm Director Duncan Fleming said: “It was a pleasure to host this year’s Arable Event, working with Wynnstay to offer an event which is among the largest in the national agriculture calendar.

“The 2026 programme provided unique opportunities for visitors to gain new insights and valuable information which they can utilise in their operations.”

With a history dating from 1066 and led by family member Alexander Newport as Managing Director, the Bradford Estates encompass regenerative farming, small to medium sized enterprise business space from converted ex-agricultural buildings, sustainable forestry, leisure activities and local housing offerings.

Alexander Newport said: “Bradford Estates has a unique position in the farming community as a long-term land owner with in-hand Bradford Farming operation which aims to innovate, so we were delighted to bring farmers together by hosting industry leaders, pioneering agronomists and technical experts to share valuable insights and information on future direction.”
