Ahead of Shropshire Petal Fields’ opening in August, there are two live music events planned for the flower field in Newport.
A symphony orchestra will be staged in the middle of the stunning flower field for Proms in the Petals: Films & Musicals Edition on Saturday, August 1st. A 50-piece orchestra led by conductor Bedwyn Lloyd Phillips will perform songs from film, stage, and screen.
The varied music selection will include music from Jurassic Park, Frozen, ET, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, West Side Story, Les Misérables, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more.
The international soloists have been announced as opera and musical theatre trained singers Eve Marie, Khrystyna Makar, and Robin Jeffcoat Dick.
The stage will be positioned within the field, with guests encouraged to bring picnic blankets to enjoy a unique open-air concert.
Beth Heath from Shropshire Festivals said, “This is set to be one of the best outdoor proms settings in the UK! For one very special evening, come and enjoy music from movie soundtracks and musical theatre favourites played by some incredibly talented musicians.
“As the sun sets over the petals, you can enjoy a pre-concert romantic stroll around the flower field, a glass of fizz from our stocked bar, some street food, and a magical evening of magnificent music.”
On Friday, July 31st, there will be an ABBA tribute night for Pop in the Petals with sought-after tribute act ABBASensation booked to perform on the flower field stage. Organisers said that fancy dress and dancing are encouraged.
Beth adds, “Whether you fancy a night of ABBA or a traditional proms evening in an unbelievably magical setting, we hope you can join us.
“Thank you to Aaron & Partners for sponsoring the stage. They have always been a huge support in making Shropshire Festivals events more epic, and helping us bring a stage to a flower field doesn’t get more epic than that!”
Shropshire Petal Fields in Newport is due to be open from August 7th – 16th. Visitors can wander through a flower field of delphiniums, cornflowers, sunflowers, and wildflowers, and explore the woodland next to a tranquil pool.
