Holidaymakers flying from Manchester Airport this autumn may spot a piece of Shropshire manufacturing in action before they even board their plane.

Floor cleaning machines made by Victor Floorcare in Shrewsbury are now being used to support cleaning operations at one of the UK’s busiest transport hubs.

The company, which has been manufacturing specialist cleaning machinery in Shropshire since 1946, said seeing its machines in use at Manchester Airport was a proud moment for the business and another example of local engineering supporting major national infrastructure.

Managing director Edward Blackledge said: “It’s fantastic to think that people from Shropshire heading off on holiday through Manchester Airport could see machines made here in the county helping to keep such a busy environment clean, safe and presentable.

“Airports are incredibly demanding environments. Passenger numbers are high, activity is constant and cleaning standards have to be maintained around the clock.

“To see Victor machines being used in that setting is a real endorsement of the quality, reliability and simplicity that we build into our products here in Shrewsbury.”

Mr Blackledge said the appointment reflected a growing focus within facilities management on equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

He said: “When cleaning teams are working in busy public environments, downtime is not an option. Equipment has to perform consistently, be straightforward to operate and minimise disruption to day-to-day operations.

“Procurement decisions are increasingly being driven by lifetime value rather than initial purchase price alone. Organisations want equipment that will remain dependable for years, supported by responsive service and readily available parts.

“That philosophy has always been at the heart of the Victor approach.”

The development follows a period of continued growth for the company, which has recently secured a number of high-profile contracts across the facilities management, education and logistics sectors.

Mr Blackledge also highlighted the importance of British manufacturing in helping organisations maintain confidence in their supply chains.

He said: “We design and manufacture our machines here in Shropshire, which gives us full control over quality and allows us to respond quickly to customer requirements.

“For organisations managing complex estates and critical infrastructure, reliability and support are every bit as important as cleaning performance.

“We are proud to be supporting teams working in some of the UK's busiest and most demanding environments and look forward to continuing to build relationships across the transport sector.”
