Some voices give you goosebumps. Some songs leave you smiling long after the final note. Phoenix Productions is bringing both to Shrewsbury with Journey, an uplifting evening of musical theatre and opera supporting the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal.

Taking place at Maidment Music Hall, Shrewsbury School, on Saturday 24 October at 7.30pm, the concert brings together some of the finest voices Shropshire has to offer, alongside international operatic bass David Shipley.

With performances at Glyndebourne and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, among his impressive credits, David’s guest appearance makes this a special opportunity to experience his extraordinary voice here in Shropshire.

Under the musical direction of John Moore, who accompanies the performers at the grand piano, Journey takes audiences through favourites from Guys and Dolls, Les Misérables, Hadestown, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Wicked, alongside Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute. Narration connects heartfelt ballads with lively ensemble numbers, creating an evening full of storytelling, humour and emotion.

The first in a new series of charity concerts from Phoenix Productions, Journey celebrates exceptional local talent while supporting an important local cause. A donation from every ticket sold will support the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal, alongside proceeds from a charity raffle on the night.

Tickets cost £15 and include a complimentary glass of fizz or another beverage of your choice. Bring your friends and prepare for voices that give you goosebumps, songs that move you and an evening that sends you home with a joyous smile.
