Oswestry-based GWR Fasteners is celebrating the success of Rallying the Wright Way, the student-operated rally team at Harper Adams University, after it secured second in Class 7 of the 2026 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship.
After two rounds without a score, Harper Adams University’s student-operated Rallying the Wright Way team fought back to finish second in Class 7 of the 2026 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship, just three points behind the class winner.
The team contested the championship in its M-Sport Fiesta R2T. At the final round, the Hills Ford Stages in Shropshire, driver Charlie Wright and co-driver Adam Westerby finished 24th overall and second in class.
Oswestry-based GWR Fasteners is a technical partner of Rallying the Wright Way, supplying the team with nuts, bolts, rivets, clips and other fasteners. The partnership supports a programme that gives Harper Adams students practical experience of preparing and running a rally car.
“They certainly keep our world screwed together, and that’s pretty important when you require consistency at 100mph!” said Charlie Wright, Team Principal of Rallying the Wright Way. “On a serious note, the team at GWR are fantastic. They do everything they can to keep our wheels turning and students learning.”
For teams preparing a car for competition, finding the right fastener or a component made to a particular dimension can take time away from other workshop jobs. GWR brings together standard fastener supply, specialist sourcing and in-house CNC manufacturing to help teams, vehicle builders and repairers find a solution to their specification.
At its Oswestry factory, GWR manufactures special fasteners and precision turned components from customer drawings. It can also modify existing screws, including to produce captive fasteners for suitable assemblies.
Alongside bespoke components, GWR supplies bar materials, tooling and consumables. Its “Your One Shop Pit Stop” approach gives motorsport businesses one place to bring both their specialist component enquiries and everyday workshop requirements.
