In line with HSE code of practice all MHE operators should receive at least basic training on any piece of equipment they will be using and to refresh this training every 3 years in order to help prevent workplace injury to the operator or any other site personnel.
Dulson Training offer accredited RTITB MHE training for all equipment categories including common trucks; Industrial Counterbalance, Reach Truck and Pedestrian Pallet Truck (PPT).
Training is delivered in a maximum ratio of 3 operators to 1 instructor. The ratio will affect the duration of the training course.
- A novice course is usually 4 days and is suitable for any operator who has little or no experience on MHE equipment.
- An experienced course is usually 3 days and is suitable for anyone with experience using the equipment but who has not received any formal training or certificate.
- A refresher course is usually 1 day and is suitable for anyone who has had formal training and holds a certificate. It is recommend that a refresher course is completed every 3 years.
- A conversion course is usually 1 day and is suitable for anyone who holds a current certificate for a type of MHE but wishes to operate a different type of MHE. Example you have a counterbalance certificate but wish to start operating a reach truck, you would need a 1 day conversion to reach truck.
Training will include pre-use checks of the equipment, health & safety, theory and practical. On completion of the training assessments will be carried out to determine if the operator meets the standard.
