Shrewsbury College

Shrewsbury College was created in August 2016 when two of Shrewsbury's leading education and training providers merged: Shrewsbury Sixth Form College and Shrewsbury College.

Shrewsbury Colleges Group was inspected by OFSTED in March of 2025 and awarded the grade of OUTSTANDING.

Shrewsbury Sixth Form College is the county's largest A Level provider, consistently ranked in the top 20 of sixth form colleges nationally. It offers nearly 40 A Levels, the widest in the county, to over 1,800 full time students aged 16-19 years, including students from countries all over the world.

Shrewsbury College is the largest vocational college in the region, catering for learners of all ages and backgrounds, including 16+ school leavers, adults, apprentices, university-level students and international students.

James Staniforth said: 'The College is here to serve its community. The largest, most visible group of people using the College and its services are 16-18 year olds, but the College also makes a real difference to a range of other groups through its provision and strategic partnerships.

'I will be building, strengthening, and forging partnerships and ensuring the College is responsive to what the community wants. I have a vision of an outstanding community college with academic and vocational excellence.

'There should be nothing we can't achieve. What should underpin everything is being the very best we can be and regional and national leaders in education.'

The College Group enrols over 7,000 full and part-time learners each year, of all ages. From 16-18-year-olds, to adult learners. It also offers an extensive range of business training opportunities for companies of all sizes from SMEs to multi-national corporations and public sector services.
