West Midlands Reserve Forces & Cadets Association

West Midland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA) has an influential and wide-ranging role, as we help to promote all Reserves, cadets and wider military within the community through liaison with local authorities, employers and other influential groups and individuals.

Our Employer Engagement Team work with employers and community groups who want to demonstrate their support to the Armed Forces by signing up to the Armed Forces Covenant. The key principles of the Covenant are that the Armed Forces community should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services. On an annual basis approximately 200 Armed Forces Covenants are signed within our region.

As well as working with employers we  look to extend our engagement activity across Civil communities. We do this by reaching out to those communities who are opportunity challenged or those who may not have been aware of the career paths available within Defence.

This groups would primarily fall under youth, female, ethnic minorities, Veterans , regional influencers and governing bodies. As such we work with Local Authorities, Local Enterprise Partnerships, further and higher education, and youth sports groups. The West Midland RFCA works with the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Forces to provide activities around leadership development, teamwork and resilience for these groups.

Furthermore we aim to strengthen the relationships created with the civil communities by encouraging these wider engagement communities to show their support for Defence by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
