M54 - M6 Link Road: Ongoing Survey & Preparatory Works (2026)

National Highways has confirmed that throughout early-mid 2026, the M54-M6 Link Road scheme is in its survey, investigation, and preparatory phase. These activities support the next Road Investment Strategy ahead of main construction.

Key 2026 works include:

Drainage, Pavement & Topographical Surveys (Jan-Mar 2026)

  • Overnight surveys taking place through January to March 2026.
  • These do not impact daytime road usage.

Ground Investigation Works (Mar-Apr 2026)

  • Borehole drilling
  • Ground sampling

Ecology Surveys (to Aug 2026)

  • Ongoing ecological assessments to update environmental data.
  • Daytime works with no impact on road users.

Closures in 2026

No major weekend or long-term closures are currently planned or announced for the remainder of 2026.
