M54 Update: Link Road Scheme Continues Through Summer 2026
National Highways has confirmed that ecology and preparatory works for the M54 to M6 Link Road scheme are continuing through summer 2026 as the project progresses following its inclusion in the Government's Road Investment Strategy (RIS3).
The scheme will provide a new direct link between the M54 and the M6, helping to improve connectivity and reduce congestion on local roads used by both businesses and commuters.
Current activity includes ecology surveys and other preparatory investigations. National Highways has stated that these works are not expected to affect normal daytime travel on the motorway network.
Motorists should continue to check National Highways travel updates before travelling, as traffic management arrangements and overnight closures can change at short notice.
