Shropshire Chamber of Commerce’s marketing manager is celebrating a double success – promotion to the management team, and being shortlisted for a major award.

Ella Preece was appointed to her current role just months after completing a digital marketing apprenticeship, and has been named as a finalist in the 2026 Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards.

Ella, who first joined the Chamber in 2023, said: “From a young age, I’ve always loved being creative, whether that was making cards and accessories for family or getting involved in arts and crafts.

“Throughout primary school, I embraced every creative opportunity and even won a drawing competition with other schools involved.”

During her time at Madeley Academy, she continued to develop her interests by studying art and business – sparking a passion for marketing, which she explored on a level three extended diploma in business at Shrewsbury College.

“Once I knew I wanted to pursue a career in marketing, I began searching for an apprenticeship that would allow me to use my skills and gain hands-on experience in the industry,” she said.

“I landed an apprenticeship through SBC Training at Shropshire Chamber and, three years later, I was made marketing co-ordinator upon completing my apprenticeship… before being promoted to marketing manager!”

Jenny Pearson, Shropshire Chamber’s head of commercial success, said: “Ella’s creativity, professionalism and rapid development have had a transformative impact on the Chamber’s media output and engagement.

“She joined the Chamber with a clear passion for creative communication, and has exceeded expectations. Her work demonstrates a level of attention to detail, originality and brand awareness that is beyond her years.

“Her work on events, awards ceremonies and member campaigns has enhanced the Chamber’s reputation, and she has been pivotal in growing the Chamber's 'Young Professionals' networking group.”

Jenny added: “But what truly sets Ella apart is her attitude. She is an exceptional team player; proactive, reliable and consistently willing to go above and beyond.”

Ella is one of three finalists in the creative and media category at this year’s Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards. The winners will be announced at a celebration evening in October.

Before stepping into her marketing career, she worked her way up through the hospitality industry to a supervisor role. “This experience helped me gain valuable skills, which I continue to use in my role today.”

Outside work, Ella says she enjoys ‘the simple things in life’ - spending time outdoors, keeping active at the gym, and discovering new places.

She loves cooking, reading, good food, spending time with friends and family – and is about to become a dog owner. “There’s a fox red labrador pending…” she said.
