Independent hospitality businesses across Shropshire are being encouraged to explore a new £10 million national Hospitality Grant Scheme that aims to support business growth, skills development and the revitalisation of vacant premises.
The three-year programme, announced earlier this month, will provide funding for projects that help new hospitality businesses get started, bring empty properties back into use, and deliver training and career development opportunities within the sector.
The scheme is expected to benefit independent pubs, restaurants and cafés, many of which play a vital role in Shropshire's visitor economy and local communities.
More than £3 million of the fund has been allocated to Pub is The Hub, a programme that helps rural and disadvantaged community pubs diversify their offer through initiatives such as village shops, community cafés and family-friendly facilities. With Shropshire's strong network of independent pubs and rural communities, this element of the funding could be particularly relevant to local businesses.
The fund also aims to encourage innovation, productivity and sustainability across the hospitality sector, while creating opportunities for young people and those looking to enter the workforce.
Applications are expected to open at the end of September 2026, and eligible businesses are encouraged to review the guidance and prepare their applications in advance.
