Shropshire Chamber of Commerce’s marketing manager has been crowned Creative and Media apprentice of the year at the 2026 Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards.

The audience at the Mercure Telford Centre Hotel heard how Ella Preece had impressed judges with her creativity, professionalism and rapid development since joining the Chamber in 2023.

They were told: “Her mastery of creative tools has helped to elevate the Chamber’s brand and boost engagement – earning her a promotion earlier this year to marketing manager, where she is now mentoring a new apprentice in the team.

“She is described as a fantastic ambassador for apprenticeships, and role model for others looking to start a similar career.”

Ella said: “Going up on that stage was a bit surreal. I’m normally behind the camera capturing these moments, not being in them! It feels great to be recognised for my achievements so early on in my career.”

“From a young age, I’ve always loved being creative. Once I knew I wanted to pursue a career in marketing, I began searching for an apprenticeship that would allow me to use my skills and gain hands-on experience in the industry.”

Jenny Pearson, Shropshire Chamber’s head of commercial success, said: “We’re so proud of Ella’s achievements. Her creativity, professionalism and rapid development have had a transformative impact on the Chamber’s media output and engagement.

“She joined us with a clear passion for creative communication, and has exceeded expectations. Her work demonstrates a level of attention to detail, originality and brand awareness that is beyond her years.

“But what truly sets Ella apart is her attitude. She is an exceptional team player; proactive, reliable and consistently willing to go above and beyond.”
