Shropshire Council have launched the Discretionary Additional Restrictions Grant (DARG) that sits alongside the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) that was launched on the 13th November to support businesses through the impacts of the COVID-19 national lockdown.
Whilst LRSG is geared towards supporting businesses within business rated premises mandated to close during the latest national lockdown, DARG does offer some more flexibility, offering support to businesses mandated to close but not in business rated premises as well as those not forced to close but who have been severely impacted due to COVID-19.
Details for these two funds can be found alongside eligibility criteria, exclusions and FAQ’s through the following websites;
The DARG scheme will follow the same level of grant payments that the recently launched LRSG scheme does, but will also be available to eligible businesses who are not the business rates payer and those operating from residential premises.
Businesses within the events sector and retail, hospitality and leisure supply chain not eligible for LRSG will be treated as priority and businesses must be able to provide evidence of losses over the period of the pandemic to be considered.
The scheme will initially be open for a three-week period and businesses are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The scheme may close earlier should funds be fully allocated before the end of that period.
Grants will be awarded at three levels as follows;
- A grant of £1,334 for;
- Properties with a rateable value of £15k or under.
- Where businesses are not the business rates payer.
- Where a business operates from a residential premises.
- A grant of £2,000 for properties with a rateable value of between £15k-£51k.
- A grant of £3,000 for properties with a rateable value of £51k or over.
