Our UKSPF Shropshire Skills Hub project is offering a Fully Funded vocational qualification, certificate, or licence to economically active individuals (employed or actively looking for work) resident in the Shropshire Council Local Authority area.

Shropshire Chamber of Commerce is working in partnership with two local delivery partners:  Inspired Mindset and SBC Training, to provide fully funded places on some of their courses and we also have grants available, of up to £1,500 for qualifications with other providers.

This Project aims to financially support individuals to obtain a fully funded vocational licence, certificate, or qualification. The qualification must provide professional knowledge, technical skills, and/or work experience relevant to a particular career and occupation, e.g. car mechanics or cosmetology. The funding is not available to support skills enhancement in a current role.

UKSPF Shropshire Skills Hub intends to contribute to economic development, retention of talent, creation of new skills, and support career progression by retraining and upskilling local people. By addressing local skills needs we hope to create high skill, high wage job opportunities for Shropshire individuals.

What vocational qualifications, including certificates and licences, can be funded?

  • Vocational refers to training and qualifications giving professional knowledge, technical skills, and work experience relevant to a particular career and occupation, e.g. car mechanics or cosmetology.
  • Vocational license is a document that recognises the individual as a qualified professional in a particular trade or business.
  • Mandatory and statutory training (e.g. health and safety, manual handling) and other non-vocational / non-educational support, such as job-search related / CV writing, confidence building, life-skills and personal effectiveness support cannot be considered as education or vocational training in this context (even though such activities may, of course, be useful and important support measures).
  • All qualifications must be achieved/completed and evidenced by the end of November 2025.
  • Eligible individuals are entitled to one fully funded qualification, license, or certificate through this project, costing up to a maximum of £1,500 (subject to funding availability). If the desired qualification, license, or certificate costs more than the maximum available, then the cost can be topped up by the individual.
