Shropshire Chamber is delivering the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course on Tuesday 6 October, it is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health.
Never before has this been more important. No matter which sector you work in, coronavirus will be having an impact on your people and their mental health and wellbeing. We are focused on providing support to your workplace through adapted training and new resources. We will support your organisation to look after the mental health of your employees.
Every MHFA England course is delivered by a quality assured Instructor Member who has attended Mental Health First Aid England’s Instructor Training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health and is trained to keep people safe and supported while they learn
This is a trying time for everyone's mental health and many of you may be providing Mental Health First Aid support remotely to friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours.
MHFA England training won’t teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis. Adult MHFA England courses are for everyone aged 16 upwards.
This course is delivered by Wendy Brook from Merulae.
On this half day introductory and interactive instructor-led live session, you will learn:
– What mental health is and how to challenge stigma
– An introduction to some common mental health issues
– Confidence to support someone who may be experiencing mental ill health
– Ways to look after your own mental health and support wellbeing
The training will be delivered virtually via Zoom and there will be regular breaks within the session.
When you complete your course you will get a certificate of attendance and a manual to keep and refer to whenever you need it.
Research and evaluation shows that taking part in an MHFA England course:
– Raises awareness and mental health literacy
– Reduces stigma around mental ill health
– Boosts knowledge and confidence in dealing with mental health issues
– Promotes early intervention which enables recovery
This the only evidence-based internationally accredited Mental Health First Aid course in England and this course has been adapted to be suitable for online delivery – with our trusted Instructor Members now skilled to deliver a course to anyone who is working remotely or unable to attend face to face training.
