A Shropshire trainee solicitor is in training to tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and hoping to raise as much money as possible for a local charity.
Nicole Cousins, who works at Lanyon Bowdler’s Shrewsbury office, has her eyes set on the demanding one-day challenge on July 11 and is now busy trying to attract sponsorship for Shropshire charity Little Stars.
Nicole needs a minimum of £260 in sponsorship to take part - but is hoping to raise more than that for a charity that is doing so much good work throughout Shropshire every year.
“Little Stars is one of our chosen charities of the year at Lanyon Bowdler and I am keen to raise as much money as I can for them while also highlighting the amazing work the charity is doing in Shropshire,” she said. “I also hope that by reading this, other people will decide to join the Little Stars team on the day.
“I have convinced my boyfriend Jordan to take on the walk with me, and although we enjoy hiking we have never attempted anything like this before, so are getting in plenty of training ahead of the challenge.”
Little Stars provides essential supplies for families facing financial hardship. Its vision is to ensure babies and children across Shropshire have access to the essentials they need at every stage of childhood.
Through a growing range of programmes, campaigns, and community partnerships, it delivers real, practical support to families who are struggling with poverty, crisis, or hardship.
Nicole added: “A few of the Lanyon Bowdler team recently visited Little Stars’ new premises to learn more about the charity and how it helps local families in need.
“It is a very worthy cause and I hope that people will be able to sponsor me on the challenge so that we can help Little Stars continue the good work it is doing.
“As part of Lanyon Bowdler’s ongoing support this year, we are hosting a number of fundraising events and I would really like to make an impact by completing this challenge.”
Chantal Cassini-Jones, of Little Stars, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Nicole and Jordan for taking on such a tough challenge in support of Little Stars. Every pound raised makes a real difference, helping us continue to provide essential items to local children and families.
“Challenges like the Yorkshire Three Peaks not only raise funds, but also awareness of the growing need for our services across Shropshire. We would also like to thank Lanyon Bowdler for their incredible support this year, and will be cheering Nicole and Jordan on every step of the way.”
The one-day trek takes in the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough - all in one circular route which includes more than 1,400m of ascent.
