Local businesses have been thanked for helping make Severn Hospice’s annual Corporate Golf Day another outstanding success.
Held at The Astbury Golf Club near Bridgnorth, the event brought together companies from across the region for a day of golf, networking and fundraising, all in support of the hospice’s vital care services.
Against the backdrop of one of Shropshire’s premier golf courses, teams enjoyed an 18-hole competition before gathering for a summer barbecue and presentation ceremony to celebrate the day’s achievements.
Severn Hospice Corporate Fundraiser Holly Gibbons said: “Our Corporate Golf Day is one of the highlights of the calendar, and this year certainly didn’t disappoint. It was fantastic to welcome so many businesses to The Astbury and see everyone enjoying the day while supporting such an important cause.
“The generosity and enthusiasm shown by our corporate supporters never ceases to amaze us. Every team that took part has helped ensure we can continue providing care and support to local families at the most difficult of times.”
Throughout the day, players took part in a range of competitions, including nearest the pin, longest drive and the ever-popular ‘Beat the Pro’ challenge against The Astbury’s Tom Storrar.
After a closely contested competition, the team from the Kingsland Group claimed the Team Winners title, while Ben Knight from Croud secured Individual Winner honours with an impressive performance across the course.
The Kingsland Group’s team captain, Charles Legge said: “As a Shropshire business, giving back to our local community means a great deal to us.
“We had a fantastic day on the course and it was a pleasure to spend time with so many local businesses, all coming together for such an important cause. While we were pleased with our result, the real reward was helping to support the hospice.
“We’d highly recommend getting involved in future events – it’s a brilliant day and a wonderful way to support something that means so much to so many local families.”
Severn Hospice provides all of its care free of charge and relies heavily on donations and fundraising to continue delivering its specialist services. The charity must raise £2 for every £3 it spends, making events such as the Corporate Golf Day an essential source of support.
Holly added: “Every pound raised through events like this helps us continue being there for local families. Demand for our services continues to grow, and with rising costs the support of our business community has never been more important.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us and our sponsors including headline sponsor Cedo, for making the day such a success.”
Following another successful year, preparations are already beginning for next year’s event, with teams eager to return and try to claim the 2027 title.
