Telford College has appointed a new Vice Principal to lead its dedicated £9million sixth form centre when it officially opens to students later this year.

Clare Snik, who is currently the Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Careers at Madeley Academy, will take up the role at the new campus at the town’s Station Quarter development at the start of new academic year in September.

Having spent two decades working in education, she said: “I’m incredibly excited to become part of a team with such a strong reputation for ambition, opportunity and student success.

“Joining Telford 6th represents an exciting new chapter. I was drawn to the college's clear ambition, commitment to excellence and determination to provide outstanding opportunities for young people across Telford and the surrounding area.

“My vision is simple, to create a sixth form where every student feels known, valued and inspired.

“I want Telford 6th to be recognised not only for exceptional academic achievement, but also for developing confident, resilient and employable young people who leave us ready to make a positive difference in the world.

“I believe outstanding education is built on high expectations, strong relationships and a relentless focus on continuous improvement.

“The fantastic sixth-form centre and state-of-the-art facilities provide the perfect foundation to inspire young people, broaden aspirations and deliver an outstanding post-16 experience for students across Telford.”

During her time at Madeley Academy, Clare oversaw a significant growth in post-16 provision, helped improve academic outcomes and strengthened university and apprenticeship progression among students.

Telford College Principal and CEO, Lawrence Wood, said Clare’s experience and ambition would support the college to shape the future success of the multi-million-pound A-level campus.

He said: “Clare has a proven track record of academic success, as well as a passion for making sure every student matters and feels valued.

“That is exactly the sort of ambition we look for at Telford College and why we have appointed her to the role.

“The opening of Telford 6th will bring A-level provision to the heart of Telford town centre for the very first time. It’s a landmark moment for the college and something the whole town can be proud of and we couldn’t be more pleased to have Clare on board to help shape its future direction.

“We’re confident that working alongside our cohort of academic teaching staff that every young person who walks through the doors in September will be given the very best start.”

The college has invested more than £1million in equipping the sixth form centre with state-of-the art equipment and resources including IT and audio visual equipment, digital interactive screens, laptops, furniture, drama studio lighting, wi-fi access points and more.
