A West Midlands manufacturing and engineering recruitment business is expanding further into Shropshire following continued growth and the addition of experienced recruiter Lois Barber to the team.

Marshall Harmony, led by Managing Director Laura Davies, has spent the last 26 years building a strong reputation across the manufacturing, engineering and commercial sectors, supporting businesses with recruitment across leadership, technical sales, operations, supply chain and engineering roles.

Known for its relationship led approach, the business has developed long standing partnerships with companies across the West Midlands by focusing on understanding the wider challenges behind recruitment rather than simply filling vacancies.

Now, with a growing focus on Shropshire businesses, the company says the move feels like a natural next step.

“Being Shrewsbury born and bred, now living in Shropshire with my husband and two children, this expansion feels incredibly personal to me as well as professional,” said Laura Davies.

“Our office is quite literally based in our garden here in Shropshire, so supporting more businesses within the county feels like a very natural next step for Marshall Harmony.

We know many manufacturing and engineering businesses are under pressure right now. Skills shortages, succession planning, growth demands and finding people who genuinely fit both the role and the culture are becoming increasingly difficult.

Too often recruitment becomes transactional, with businesses receiving CVs from people who don’t properly understand manufacturing, engineering or the wider operational pressures behind the hire.

What we actually help solve is the bigger picture. We help businesses protect growth, strengthen teams, plan for the future and find people who genuinely add value long term.”

The expansion comes alongside the appointment of recruiter Lois Barber, who brings experience of working closely with Shropshire businesses.

Lois said joining Marshall Harmony was driven by wanting to work in a way that aligned more closely with her own values.

“I wanted to move away from the churn and high street style approach to recruitment,” she said.

“I wanted to build genuine long-standing partnerships with businesses I believe in and work in an ethical way that fits within my own moral compass. Marshall Harmony allows me to do exactly that.”

Alongside its recruitment work, Marshall Harmony is actively involved within the wider manufacturing and business community, supporting organisations including Women With Metal, UWR and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Through its partnership with Acorns, the business donates 2% of every placement fee to support children and families across the region.

Marshall Harmony is also sponsoring the Sustainability Award at this year’s Shropshire Chamber Business Awards.
